Reputation Management: From Asset to Strategy
An interview with one of the firm's managing partners, published on CoinMarketCap, sets out a position worth examining: reputation is not an image factor but a balance-sheet item with a measurable effect on valuation.
Reputation Management: From Asset to Strategy — London Insider, 26 August 2025.
The argument
The piece traces how reputation in the crypto sector moved from a passive asset — something a project either had or did not — to a deliberate strategic function. In a market where a listing, a banking relationship and a funding round all depend on how a name reads under scrutiny, reputational capital stops being a communications concern and becomes a financing one.
The conclusion is that projects must manage and defend that capital actively, rather than treat it as a by-product of doing good work. Proactive management is presented as the foundation of trust, credibility and long-term resilience.
Why the crypto sector makes the case clearly
Three features sharpen it. Capital moves faster than in any other sector, so sentiment converts into price within hours. Counterparty checks are performed almost entirely through open sources, because formal records are thin. And the industry carries an inherited reputational discount: a project starts from suspicion rather than neutrality.
That combination means a crypto project cannot wait to build reputation gradually through delivery. It has to assemble verifiable standing in parallel with the product, or the product will not get the chance.
What transfers beyond crypto
The mechanism is not sector-specific. Any business whose counterparties perform due diligence through search faces the same arithmetic: what is findable about you is priced into the terms you are offered, whether or not anyone says so out loud.
